Q. Why is molecular weight important?

A.

In their book, "Chelates in Nutrition", Professors Kratzer and Vohra have reported that organic minerals must have a molecular weight of less than 1000 daltons to be absorbed intact.

The average molecular weight of an Albion amino acid chelate is less than 800 daltons. Thus it can be absorbed intact into the intestinal cells. It does not require digestion or disassociation to be absorbed. By definition, a metal proteinate is many times larger and must be digested before absorption. If digestion of a metal proteinate is total, the mineral may be released and subesquently behave like a mineral salt.
