MAAC® for Animal Nutrition

A great trace mineral plan is the cornerstone of any nutritional program. Without proper levels of trace minerals, the energy and protein provided in rations will not be properly metabolized due to insufficient mineral availability for the building of digestive enzymes to break these products down for absorption into the system. Proper levels of trace minerals can significantly impact hormone production, immune function, digestion of carbohydrates, skeletal integrity and skin health.

If you are in question about the seriousness and sensitivity of trace mineral nutrition, take a good look at cows with milk fever (a calcium deficiency) or grass tetany (a magnesium deficiency) or the hair of cattle. A red tint in black cattle or a dull red in red cattle or a yellowing of the hair in white cattle, are all signs of a copper deficiency.

So what can you do to assure that your animals receive proper levels of trace mineral nutrition to perform their best...?

Chelated trace minerals are used to improve trace mineral levels in animals. Chelated minerals are amino acids attached to trace minerals. Chelates are mostly absorbed in the jujenal area of the small intestine just like regular amino acids. Chelating a mineral also protects it from antagonistic effects of other minerals allowing them to pass to the site of absorption in the small intestine.

Albion does not produce complete mineral packages. We do support our time tested formulations and work with feed mills to provide these complete mineral formulas to producers. Albion Beef and Dairy 200 mineral has been used for nearly 30 years and still provides superior performance. It contains very high percentages of Chelated trace minerals making it unique in the business. Ask your local feed dealer if they carry this product or call us at Albion and we can work with you and your local feed supplier to manufacture this product for you.

Albion Breeder Pack is another time tested Albion mineral formulation. This product is used for cows and heifers as they are being set up to flush embryos. It can be used in bulls during collection to help increase semen quality and heifers and cows being synchronized for breeding to help with conception rates. These improvements are all a result of delivering more mineral into the bloodstream of animals. By getting more mineral into the animal, the endocrine system can utilize the minerals to manufacture proper hormone levels for superior reproductive performance.

Distillers' grains are a valuable feedstuff but you must manage its components. Albion Distillers balancer takes into account the high level of Phosphorous and Sulfur in distillers' grains. We balance the Ca:P ratios and use chelates to help protect important trace minerals from the antagonistic effects of the higher Sulfur levels found in distillers' grains. This product can also be easily made by your local feed supplier.
In addition to our formulas, several feed companies use Albion Chelated trace minerals as part of their mineral formulations. You can tell if they are because when you look at the feed tag and it lists: Zinc Amino Acid Chelate, Copper Amino Acid Chelate, Manganese Amino Acid Chelate or Magnesium Amino Acid Chelate you are getting genuine Albion product in your mineral. Only Albion is privileged by the American Association of Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) to be able to use this designation on labeling. If your tag lists any of the metals as Complexes or Proteinates you are receiving something less than a true chelate. Only when the precise chemical requirements for chelation are met, can the physiological consequences of improved bioavailability be expected.

We look forward to answering any questions that you may have regarding the use of Albion Chelates. Accept no imitations..there is a difference..Albion. Replamin Gel plus is a product used on individual animals for the supplementation of trace minerals with added vitamins for use during times of stress. For use as supportive therapy during treatments or preventative therapy at processing, it is a strong product that has a great following. It has been copied by others but not duplicated.

Pull thru drench is another product used at these times of stress. It comes in a dry form to be mixed with water for dosing as a drench. It contains trace minerals and has worked well for years.
