Jonathan Bortz, MD earned his medical degree from the University of the Witwatersrand Medical School in Johannesburg, South Africa. He completed his internal medicine residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio and his fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. In 1995, he founded the Bortz Diabetes Control Center—a full service, integrated, multidisciplinary diabetes clinic as well as a clinical research center.
Dr. Bortz worked in private practice as an endocrinologist for 15 years before entering the pharmaceutical industry a decade ago and now is an independent consultant to the pharmaceutical and nutritional industries. He has served for many years as Medical Affairs Consultant to Albion, and is now the chairman of Albion’s Scientific Advisory Board.
